If your bike is left unattended in your locked house, garage, outbuilding, wooden, metal or plastic shed within the boundaries of your private dwelling, then the bike doesn't also need to be locked to anything.
When away from the home, the cycle must be locked through the frame, with an appropriate rated Sold Secure approved lock, to an immovable object - you are covered when the bike is left unattended, for a maximum of 24 hours, including if locked at a train station.
