It’s as easy as riding a bike; if a friend or family member wants to borrow your bike or any of your kit, all they need is your permission to do so and that’s it.
Any bike and kit they take with them will be covered to the value of the maximum equipment away from home. Family & Friends cover only applies to bikes and kit; it doesn’t apply to personal accident or third party liability.
FAMILY & FRIENDS CASE STUDY
Becky’s mum Beryl wanted to borrow her bike for the weekend while her bike was at the local workshop. Becky’s bike was worth several thousand pounds so she was concerned about it being ridden without insurance cover.
Thanks to Bikmo's ’family & friends' cover, this wasn’t an issue, and Beryl was able to borrow her bike and the kit on it, with both still being covered for theft or damage.
FAQS
Are there any restrictions?
The person borrowing your bike and any kit must simply have your permission to use your bike, and lock it appropriately if they leave it unattended.
Is the cover exactly the same for the person I’m lending my bike to as it is for me?
Personal accident and third party liability does not apply to friends and family, only the policy holder. Your bike and kit will still be covered to the value of the maximum equipment away from home.
