How should I lock my bike when I'm away from home?

When away from the home, including while abroad, the bike must be locked through the frame to an immovable object, using a suitably rated Sold Secure approved lock.

You are covered for a maximum of 24 hours in a public place, including if locked at a train station.

Which Sold Secure rating do I need?

For policies purchased on or after 01/07/2025:

You’ll need a lock that’s rated Sold Secure Gold or Diamond, no matter how much much your bike is worth.

All bike values - Gold or Diamond Rating

For policies purchased before 01/07/2025:

It's dependent on the 'as new' RRP replacement value of the bike, at the time of purchase, as to which lock rating you'll need:

Bike value up to £250 - Bronze Rating

Bike value £251- £1500 - Silver Rating

Bike value over £1500 - Gold Rating

A Diamond rated lock is fine too, as this is their highest rating available.
