Your Bikmo cycle insurance policy may provide cover for when your cycle is stored in a cycle parking unit.
Please refer to your policy wording for full details of the cover you have with your policy.
Below is an overview of the cover provided.
Policies purchased on or after 20th December 2023
Our policies include cover for storing your cycle in a cycle parking unit.
We define Cycle parking as:
A commercially operated, fixed and enclosed cycle parking unit which is:
- purpose built or adapted for cycle storage; and
- internally fitted with racks or bars; and
- secured with a vandal-resistant lock for which only permitted cycle owners possess a key, fob, access card or code; and
- paid for by you on a monthly or yearly subscription.
Your bike must be locked within a 'cycle parking' unit in accordance with our locking requirements. These are defined in your policy wording, and you can also read more here - Bikmo Locking Requirements
Policies purchased on or after 15th March 2018
Bikmo policies taken out from 15th March 2018 include improved cover for specific types of cycle parking, referred to as 'cycle hangars' in our policy wording. Providing the facility meets our criteria, we classify it as 'at home' meaning you can park or store your bike for as long as you need, with no time limit.
A 'cycle hangar' must meet the following criteria to qualify:
A fixed cycle parking unit which is:
- built of and roofed with metal; and
- internally fitted with racks or bars; and
- secured with a vandal-resistant lock for which only permitted cycle owners possess a key or access card.
Your bike must be locked within the 'cycle hangar' in accordance with our locking requirements. These are defined in your policy wording, and you can also read more here - Bikmo Locking Requirements
