Temporary total incapacity following an accident
The insurance pays you in case you have an accident whilst working with Deliveroo, and you can’t work as a result of your injury.
The amount you are paid depends on your income and amount of time you’ve worked with Deliveroo for:
For riders who have worked with Deliveroo for 2 months or more:
The lesser of:
- £50 per day, or
- 75% of your average income from Deliveroo in the 6 month period before your injury (before Tax and National Insurance).
You can claim up to a 30 day period, but you can't claim for the first 7 days waiting period.
If you've worked with Deliveroo for 3 months and your average income was £50 per day before any tax or NI, then you would be paid £37.50 per day for each day you can’t work following the 7 day waiting period.
For riders who have worked with Deliveroo for less than 2 months, and for substitutes:
You will be paid a fixed amount of £25 per day that you can’t work as a result of the injury. The maximum period you can claim for is 6 days following the waiting period of 7 days.
Bodily injury and assault
You can also claim for a lump sum following an accident, bodily injury or assault. The list of injury types and sums insured is provided in the Details of Insurance document available here (see the Table of Benefits section).
Your public liability cover will pay for:
- Bodily injury, diseaseor death you cause to any person; and
- Accidental damageto someone else's property
whilst you, or your chosen substitute, are delivering by bicycle with Deliveroo or whilst on foot when collecting or delivering a Deliveroo placed order.
Car and scooter riders are also covered when away from the vehicle whilst collecting or delivering orders.
The maximum amount that the policy will pay for is £1 million including reasonable defence costs and expenses.
When am I covered?
You have cover whenever you are online and logged-in to your Deliveroo rider app (when you're working) and for 1 hour after you have logged out to allow you to get home.
Delivering for other companies (not Deliveroo)
You must work with Deliveroo to be eligible for any benefit under this policy, but working with, or for, any other companies does not void or invalidate your cover whilst you are working for Deliveroo.
If you suffer an accident or injury whilst working with, or for, any other company, you will not be eligible for cover under this free rider insurance.
