How do I get a quote?

January 27, 2026

Getting a quote for your bike insurance is quick and easy. Here's how it works.

The fastest way to get a quote

The quickest way to get insured is online via our homepage: bikmo.com/uk

What you'll need

Have this information ready before you start:

  • Bike details - the make, value and whether it’s an e-bike
  • Contact details - name, address, email and phone number
  • Payment details - to pay for your insurance

When does my cover start?

Your insurance starts as soon as your policy is set up.

If you prefer, you can also choose a start date up to 30 days in the future, so your policy can begin exactly when you need it.

When to speak to one of our agents

Sometimes it's better to talk to us directly. Contact our team if:

  • The total value of your bikes exceeds £40,000 - we can still help you, but may need to carry out some additional checks first.
  • You’ve made a bike claim before -  if your total claims have exceeded £5,000, or you’ve made more than two theft or damage claims, please let us know.

Our agents will help you get the right cover for your needs.

Who we can't insure

Unfortunately, we can't provide insurance in these situations:

Under 18

You must be at least 18 years old to take out a policy in your own name.

If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian can take out the policy on your behalf, and your bike will still be fully covered.

Please note: the parent or guardian must reside at the same address as the under-18 policyholder.

Using Your Bike for Work (Other Than Commuting)

We can't cover bikes used for certain types of work, such as:

  • Delivery jobs (food delivery, courier work, etc.)
  • Mobile services (e.g. mobile hairdressing)

But we can cover you if you just ride your bike to commute to work and back - that's absolutely fine.

Multiple Recent Claims

We may not be able to provide insurance if you’ve made multiple claims in the past 5 years, typically meaning:

  • 2 or more theft or damage claims, and
  • Claims totaling £5,000 or more

E-Bikes That Aren’t Road Legal

Your e-bike must be legal for use on UK roads to be covered. We cannot insure e-bikes that don’t meet the required standards.

To be covered by our insurance, your e-bike (electric assisted pedal cycle) must be:

  • Primarily pedal-assisted
  • Maximum continuous rated power output of 250 watts
  • Speed restricted to 15.5 mph
  • Not subject to the requirements of the Road Traffic Act

This also includes ‘twist and go’ or throttle-controlled e-bikes, as long as the model is type-approved and complies with the speed and power limits above.
