What does my Service fund pay for?

If your plan is Protect Plus or Protect Total, you have a Service fund. It pays for the labour on a service at a participating authorized Specialized retailer. We pay the retailer directly.

A service is the standard set of checks Specialized asks of every authorized Specialized retailer: gears, brakes, wheels, bolts, safe to ride.

The fund doesn’t pay for parts, cleaning, labour above your fund, or repairs after a crash.

‍

How does my Service fund work?

  • It’s an amount, not a number of visits. You can use it over more than one visit until it runs out.
  • It runs for 12 months at a time, from the day your Specialized Care starts, not the day of your first service.
  • It doesn’t roll over. Anything left at the end of the 12 months is lost, and a new fund starts.
  • You can see what’s left in your Bikmo account. Your fund amount is set out in your Service terms.

We encourage you to book one service a year. Missing a service can affect your other covers.

‍

How do I book a service?

  1. Book in with a participating authorized Specialized retailer. Call, email or walk in, and tell them you have Specialized Care.
  2. Agree the cost before the work starts. They’ll tell you what your fund pays for and what you’ll pay.
  3. Collect your bike. You pay for parts and any labour above your fund limit. We pay the rest, and your Bikmo account updates.

Have your policy number and serial number to hand. Both are on your plan card.

‍

Why am I paying for parts at my service?

Your Service fund pays for labour only. Parts fitted during a service, such as chains, brake pads, tyres and cables, are charged at the normal retail price.

If you have Protect Total, a worn part may be covered by Wear and Tear instead. Your retailer will check before they fit it, and ask for your consent to claim.
