Understanding your cancellation options
Cancelling in the first 15 days
If you cancel within the first 15 days of starting your policy:
- We’ll backdate the cancellation to the policy start date
- We'll stop your Direct Debit payments
- You’ll get a full refund, as long as you haven’t made any claims
This period is sometimes called the “cooling-off period”; it gives you time to make sure the policy is right for you.
Cancelling after 15 days
What happens next depends on when you bought your policy.
Policies purchased on or after 1st July 2025:
- Your policy will be cancelled effective from the date you requested the cancellation
- Direct Debit payments will be stopped
- You’ll receive a partial refund for the unused portion of your policy unless a claim has been made
- Refunds below £10 will not be issued
Policies purchased before 1st July 2025:
- Your policy will be cancelled 30 days after you request to cancel
- Direct Debit payments will be stopped
- You’ll receive a partial refund for the unused portion (unless you’ve made a claim)
- Refunds below £10 will not be issued
Cancelling in the last 30 days of your policy
If your policy has less than 30 days remaining, and you have switched off Auto Renewal we’ll simply stop it from renewing. Your insurance will end on the original expiry date.
However, if you have Auto Renewal switched on, you’ll need to change that before your renewal date. Don’t worry, we will guide you through the process when you request a cancellation.
