Bike Replacements Explained

February 11, 2026

At Bikmo, we’re cyclists too, so we know how frustrating it is to be without your bike. Whether your bike has been damaged or stolen, our priority is to get you back riding as quickly and smoothly as possible.

The heart of our claims service is the Bikmo Replacement process. Below is everything you need to know about how it works, who we work with, and how to make sure you’re not left out of pocket.

The Benefits of a Bikmo Replacement

When you make a claim, we’ll aim to arrange a like-for-like replacement or repairs through our network of trusted retail partners. This comes with a number of key benefits:

Excess-Free Claims:

If your claim is settled via a replacement bike or repair through one of our partners, you won’t pay any excess at all. If we’re unable to settle your claim this way and a cash settlement is required, a standard excess will apply (usually £40 or 10% of the claim value, whichever is higher).

Expert Service:

We work with specialist bike shops, so your replacement bike will be professionally built, set up and ready to ride.

Environmental Impact:

Where possible, we salvage usable parts from damaged bikes. This helps reduce waste, keeps costs down and is better for the environment.

Our Partner Network

We’ve built strong relationships with some of the best-known brands and retailers in the cycling industry to ensure you have access to high-quality replacements. Our partners include:

  • Brompton
  • Trek
  • Pinarello
  • JE James
  • The Bike Factory
  • Chevin Cycles
  • Js Cycle Shack
  • Quinns Cycles

Supporting Local Bike Shops

We know many riders have a great relationship with their local bike shop. If you’d prefer to use your own local retailer, just let us know when you make your claim. We’ll contact them to see if they’re happy to work with us, so you can support your local cycling community while still benefiting from the Bikmo Replacement process.

Importance of Correct Insured Values

All replacements are subject to stock availability and the insured value on your policy. This is why it’s important to keep your bike’s value up to date.

Bike prices can change over time. If your bike is insured for less than its current replacement cost, we may only be able to replace it up to the value listed on your policy. We recommend checking the current RRP of your model (or the closest equivalent) and updating your sum insured to reflect what it would cost to buy the bike new today.

How it Works: A Quick Summary

  1. Submit your claim - Send us the details of what happened and the bike involved.
  2. Claim review - Our specialist team assesses the claim.
  3. Replacement arranged - We work with one of our partners or your chosen local shop to source your replacement bike or repairs.
  4. Back on the road - Collect your bike (or have it delivered) and get riding again, with no excess to pay.

By choosing a Bikmo Replacement, you’re choosing the fastest, most cost-effective way to get you back on the bike and doing what you love.
