Having your property stolen is frustrating, but we’re here to make the claims process as smooth and quick as possible.
Before you start your claim, please have the following ready:
- Proof of address (such as a recent bank statement or tenancy agreement)
- Police crime reference number
- Bike lock make and model (if applicable)
- Proof of lock ownership (a receipt or photograph is fine)
- Proof of ownership for any kit or accessories you’re claiming for
What You’ll Need to Report Your Stolen Bike
When you submit your claim, we’ll ask for some important information to help us verify your details and understand what happened.
- Your Personal Details
First, we’ll need to confirm who you are and where you live. Please provide:
- Your full name and contact details
- Proof of where you live (a document dated within the last 3 months, like a bank statement or tenancy agreement)
2. Details of the Theft
Tell us the full story of what happened. This helps us understand your claim better. Please include:
- Police crime reference number - this is essential
- When it happened - the date and time your bike was stolen
- Where it happened - the exact location where you left your bike
- How your bike was locked - the type of lock and how it was used
- Proof of lock ownership - a receipt or a photo of the lock (even if damaged)
- Evidence of accessory ownership - a receipt is best but we will accept a photograph of the item you’re claiming for in your possession (a screenshot will not be accepted)
- Witness details - contact details of anyone who saw the theft take place
Reporting the Theft to the Police
You must report the theft to the police and obtain a crime reference number, we can’t process your claim without it.
You can report the theft either online or by calling the non-emergency number 101.
What Can Delay Your Claim
We aim to process your claim as quickly as possible. However, delays can happen if:
- Information or documents are missing - if you don't give us all the details we ask for
- The theft isn’t reported to the Police - we can't process your claim without a police crime reference number
