Yes, your bike is covered for theft at home as long as your property is locked. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to keep your gear safe.
What is covered
You’re protected if your bike is stolen from your home, including:
- Inside your home: Your bike is covered if it’s stolen from inside your property, provided your normal security measures (such as locked doors and windows) were in place and there is evidence of forcible and violent entry or exit.
- Private garage or outbuilding: We cover bikes stored in a locked, privately accessed garage or outbuilding on your property, as long as it has four secure walls and a roof.
- Private shed: Your bike is covered when kept in a lockable wooden, metal or plastic shed located within the boundaries of your home.
- Communal areas: You’re covered in shared spaces such as hallways, bike stores or residents’ car parks. In these areas, your bike must be locked through the frame to an immovable object using an approved lock.
What is not covered
There are some situations where cover wouldn’t apply:
- Unlocked property: You must use normal home security, such as locking doors and windows.
- No sign of forced entry: There must be evidence that someone used force to enter or leave the property.
- Unexplained loss: We cannot cover bikes that simply go missing without any proof of theft.
Home cover checklist
To make sure your policy remains valid:
- Locked entrances: Lock all doors and windows when leaving your property.
- Proof of ownership: Keep your receipts or photos of your bike and accessories.
No lock needed inside: You do not need to lock your bike to an immovable object inside your home, as long as the home itself is locked and secured.
